2017 Hyundai Ioniq Raises Bar for Alternative Fuel Vehicles

One car, three options, no bad choices. That’s the Hyundai Ioniq.

Hyundai has unveiled their 2017 Ioniq model lineup and we can’t wait to get our hands on one of these innovative vehicles. First introduced at the New York International Auto Show in March, the Ioniq Electric, Ioniq Hybrid and Ioniq Plug-In Hybrid models mark the first time for a brand to offer three distinct electric powertrains on one vehicle platform.

The Ioniq Electric is an all-electric model that completely eliminates trips to the pump. Coming late this fall, the Ioniq Electric is just the beginning. Next in the lineup is the Ioniq Hybrid. Electric power aids this model’s gasoline engine, helping you go farther on every gallon. Look for the Ioniq Hybrid on showroom floors this winter. The final installment in this stunning lineup is the Ioniq Plug-in Hybrid. This 2-in-1 vehicle gives you electric power when you want it and gasoline power when you need it. Expect to see the Ioniq Plug-In Hybrid to appear summer 2017.

Each of these unique powertrains was design to be compact while staying highly efficient. Unlike other hybrids, the hybrid technology in the Ioniq Hybrid and Plug-in Hybrid adds minimal extra weight to the vehicles while significantly increasing efficiency. In addition, all three models use lithium-ion polymer battery packs which are 20 percent lighter than standard battery packs. Hyundai’s lithium-ion polymer battery packs are optimally shaped to the vehicle’s interior allowing for a more luxurious design.

Hyundai has taken the traditional alternative fuel vehicle and raised the bar. Ioniq steps things up with thoughtful amenities, advanced safety features and ingenious design. The result is a more rewarding drive. The Ioniq features heated front seats, a panoramic  sunroof, Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, a rearview camera and a 7-inch color touchscreen display

Focusing on much more than fuel efficiency, eco-conscious choices are evident throughout the interior of the Ioniq. Sugar cane makes up 25% of the raw materials used in the interior’s soft-touch trim panels while recycled plastic combine with powdered wood and volcanic stone to reduce the weight of interior plastics by 20%.

A car this luxurious should have the safety features to match. Lucky for you, the Ioniq does not disappoint. The Ioniq comes equipped with innovative safety features like Automatic Emergency Braking with Pedestrian Detection, Lane Departure Warning, Blind Spot Detection and Smart Cruise Control.

The Ioniq also offers smartphone integration and state-of-the-art wireless phone charging. No detail has been forgotten in the 2017 Ioniq. There is even a handy holder for your tablet between the front seats. Hyundai’s Blue Link app allows you to monitor your vehicle’s battery levels and set a charging time all from the palm of your hand.
